Today’s Mommy (and Daddy) and Me movie was You Don’t Mess With Zohan. Since it wasn’t Sex in the City (again!), we decided to head up on to Arlington to check it out. Thomas cooperated and was pretty good for the entire movie. It did help that we snagged the only balcony seats, so I could get up a lot and walk him around (or dance) to keep him amused. The movie was 3 out of 5 stars – really 2.5, but we still had fun. We were hoping it would be the new Batman flick this week, but that’s just too new.
The real big news is that Thomas hath discovered the art of the splash. This evening he was not entirely amused when I put him in the bath, but eventually relaxed. Soon after relaxing and right after I’d washed his filthy feet (I do kiss them a lot … ergo, not clean), Thomas picked up his leg, just like he does a thousand times a day outside of the bath, and smashed it down. It made a big splash and it was as if a fog lifted from his mind. His eyes lit up as he realize he was the master of the splash and he had two legs. The second leg came down. Soon he’d worked up a rythme. Splash, splash, giggle, splash, splash, giggle, splash, splash, giggle.
Yeah for point and shoot digital cameras that take video.
Needless to say, the counter, wall, trash can, and Mother were all soaked. Good job Thomas!
Every Monday, the Capital Theatre in Arlington, MA (the first place we lived after getting married – a place that will always have warm memories in our hearts) hosts a Mommy and Me movie. So yeah, you can guess what this is, it’s a recent flick that Mom’s can bring their little (non-mobile) ones to. Babies are crying, Mom’s are feeding, the movie is playing softly. It’s really awesome. Danielle was turned onto this by our friend Dawn a few weeks ago and has become more hooked with every passing week.
Anyway, this Monday was the new, and least good, Indiana Jones flick. I was having one of those days at work, had been there since 7am, and was just going nowhere fast. I called Danielle and asked if it was ok if I came along. She gave in, and I was so ready to leave. A quick call to Auntie Amy who just happened to be in town and had a previous plan to see a reading movie and she was game. So, I packed up my laptop and hit the road – at 1:30pm. Hey – it was kinda a full day? Oh, and I did officially take the time off just in case you were wondering. They give us a lot of time of at Harvard, so it would be dumb to not actually use it once in a while. :)
The movie was blah. Seeing Thomas’ bear bum out in public was priceless. Danielle was a champ. Seriously she did three diaper changes and a solid (maybe even both sides) feeding IN THE THEATRE! But the highlight of the trip (at least for me and my warped mind), was when I took ahold of Thomas (who was watching the movie – it was hilarious, but too dark for the iPhone to snap a pic) and held him in on my lap. Shortly thereafter, he started to fart up a storm – very, very audibly. The boys in front were totally wanting to turn around, but it took some serious Thomas farts to finally get them to turn around to spy this obviously huge, disgusting man who was making all that foul butt music, only to see sweet, giggly Thomas pooting away. It’s the little things in life that mean the most, and his little rear tuba singing it’s tune – and embarrassing 10 year old boys – was one of those little things.
Today was low key except that we came dangerously close to running out of diapers. Thomas seems to sense when we are running low and kick his intestines into high gear. It would be funny if it weren’t so much poop for us to clean up. :) Oh, and I stopped in to see Abby, Dennis, and baby Tanner today. All are well, but Mom and Dad look super tired. I wonder if I looked that tired after 6 days. Probably not …
Sorry for the radio silence today. Nothing good to report, except that we had a nice, although baby-less day. I’ll start with last night. It was a night just like tonight. Ten years ago … Oops, that’s Large Marge’s story, not ours.
Last night we went out to see Baby Mama. It wasn’t amazing, but was a nice way to pass the evening. Then we went out for some Mexican (get it? Spicy food!) yeah, it didn’t work.
So this am we went for a nice long walk. Yeah, Danielle’s on bed rest; but we gotta get this party started folks! Anyway, it was awesome to be out on such a lovely morning. But still no outside baby. Don’t get me wrong, I love our inside baby. I just want to meet him or her on the outside.
So we did a bunch of house stuff (did you clean any of YOUR house’s siding today? We did some of ours!), watched the Cavs / Celts game (sorry Clevelanders!), did more house stuff and STILL no baby. Another Netflix later and the day is over. Maybe our little one will join us on 5/19. Incidentally 5/19 is Danielle’s parents anniversary and a both numbers are primes (not 2008 though, can’t win ‘em all). We have another midwife appointment at 9:15 tomorrow am. We’ll update the blog after that.
Oh, so about that radio silence. Our darn cable internet went out this morning for the umpteenth time this year. Comcast is great at upping our rates, but haven’t yet figured out how to deliver what we pay for. At least my iPhone still works. Btw: this update came from it.
